Main finding: At 3 years, there was no long-term benefit of IVTA over focal/grid laser. More eyes receiving 4mg IVTA were likely to require cataract surgery

 

  • Purpose: To compare outcomes of intravitreal triamcinolone with focal/grid photocoagulation for treatment of diabetic macular edema.

Participants: ≥18yo, T1/2 DM, Ci-DME , VA 20/32-20/320 (6/9.5-6/96)

  • Group 1: Laser (focal/grid)
  • Group 2: Triamcinolone 1mg
  • Group 3: Triamcinolone 4mg
